Episode #68 - Trust Yourself
Amanda E Gross draws and paints from her home studio in Beacon, NY. She moved to the Hudson Valley in the summer of 2017, by way of the Chicago city and suburbs, Providence, Boston, and San Francisco, and can’t get enough of the green hills, wildlife, local culture, and vibrant people-watching. After attending The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and The Rhode Island School of Design, Amanda taught the practice and history of art to children and adults, and worked as a museum coordinator, marketing copywriter, and Instructional Designer, while maintaining a studio practice. Since moving to Beacon, making and exhibiting art has returned as her focal point. Current series include bright and expressive pastel portraits of inspiring people, mixed media paintings of native birds on reused ceramic tiles, surreal acrylic landscape paintings, charcoal drawings colored digitally that become cards and prints, and embroideries that pair text and image. Amanda lives with her fiancé and three gifted rescue cats.
