26. i’ll do tori amos, since she is basically the reason i listen to anything i listen to now, regardless of how much my tastes have shifted. okay, around the time i was 13, i got really into francesca lia block’s books, and in violet & claire, there is a mention of one of them listening to tori’s “bells for her.” i must have heard her name somewhere before to pay special attention to it then, but i decided to download the song. i don’t think i *loved* it at first, but i liked it (and a year or so later, it would become relevant to my life like WHOA). then one day, i was shopping and saw tales of a librarian, which had just recently come out, and bought it on a whim. over the next few months, i slowly started getting into all of the songs on there. then i started buying her individual albums. i think the first one i bought after tales was actually scarlet’s walk, which most tori fans would tell you is not the ideal choice. i actually didn’t love it at the time as much as i do now, but it got me to keep going with the rest of her discography, and then i was obsessed with her for a good 2-3 years, discovered a ton of other piano-based artists as a result, branched out from there, ended up where i am today, etc.

40. what one band member would i want to meet if i could? oh boy. i’d like to have a really intellectual and out-of-my-depth conversation with joanna newsom. i’d like to tell tori amos how much her music actually changed my life. i’d like to see if zac pennington is just as angelic in person. these are all conceivably possible, but in reality, i’d be either too shy to even approach or too awestruck to say anything smart.
44. the most important thing music has ever given me, i guess, is an outlet for my emotions. i’ve had some really rough times and still do occasionally, and music is about the only thing i can count on to always be there. it also gives me a hobby, so that i can justify sitting around doing nothing all the time by saying i’m evaluating new music.
48. i answered a question similar to this already, but definitely nsync. besides them, i was really into britney spears and christina aguilera (stripped was a jam, yo). all the usual suspects. i also liked evanescence, destiny’s child and jennifer lopez. i went through this really weird period of listening to the crappiest mainstream rap imaginable too, like nelly and ja rule. i actually owned a ja rule cd at one point.
50. music has for sure saved/helped my life. i guess “saved” seems a little drastic to me, since things have never been that level of bad. but it’s definitely helped me get through the worst years of my life and still helps me when i’m in a bad place emotionally and need to either purge those emotions or wallow in them a bit.

lmao stone tablets but yes that's exactly what i was wondering!! also i died at like...his helicopter and the fact that he ends up being the keynote speaker at graduation or whatever... like i had no idea the book had such a wacky plot
it has wacky plot points, but there is not an actual plot at all. things happen but literally nothing matters in the long run apart from the sex. have you read summaries for the last two books?? the "plots" there are even weirder. there's, like, one of christian's crazy ex-subs trying to stalk/possibly murder them and ana's boss hitting on her and kidnapping her and idek??? but they are never concerned about any of these things. it's so bizarre.

oh my god i haven't read it but once i read the whole synopsis of the book on wikipedia and i couldnt stop laughing i remember i couldn't believe she's supposed to have never used a computer before
yes that is literally the most annoying part of the whole thing! i mean, she apparently has never even had an email address?!? even though she is a college senior?!? you'd think she'd at least have a school email. and, like, she acts as though she doesn't even know how computers work even though she says that she uses her friend's laptop and computers at school when she needs one. IT MAKES NO ACTUAL SENSE!
it's actually even worse that she's an ENGLISH MAJOR with no knowledge of computers. like, what did you use to write all your papers, stone tablets?? scrolls??
