Sarah Ann has been teaching our daughter, Elizabeth Jane, how to run the plantation home. Now that Sarah Ann is further along her pregnancy it is difficult for her to do some of her daily tasks. She is teaching Elizabeth Jane how to look after the home. Sarah Ann has been teaching her how to cook meals, sew clothes, clean the house, and take care of a child. I am very proud of both of them and the work they put into the family. I have also gotten around to teaching our son, James Thomas, a few things. I have started to teach him how to properly run a plantation. I want him to be fully prepared for when it is his time to run the family business. I have taken him out with me to town to observe how men trade and deal with business matters. He has also learned how to deal with slaves and their nasty attitudes. James Thomas has also quickly learned how to read and write. These skills will become useful once he is grown and will allow him to look after his family.
