The goal itself was definitely top draw, but what made this goal all the more special was the circumstances that surrounded it.
It was the last home match before the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, and Jamie Carragher led a bullish Liverpool out to face Blackburn Rovers. And within five minutes, Liverpool had scored.
After receiving the ball back from Daniel Agger, Jamie launched a perfectly weighted long ball to Fernando Torres. The striker's first touch was perfect, and he then launched an unstoppable volley on the turn past Paul Robinson. The kop erupted.
There are so many reasons why this goal stands out in my memory. Firstly, who better to score the goal then Liverpool's beloved number nine? At that time, Fernando Torres was every Liverpool fan's favourite. And the assist was provided by the long-serving heart of the Liverpool team and captain for the day Jamie Carragher.
The celebrations after the goal was also memorable - Fernando with his fingers pointing to the sky in remembrance of the 96, and the whole team making the effort to congratulate both the scorer and Jamie for his assist. Earlier in the day, Jamie had declared the match to be the most important one in his 13 years of football. To have made such a contribution to the goal must have meant a lot.
Liverpool would go on to win 4-0, and this was one of the high points in a season that promised so much but ended up achieving less than expected. Rafael Benitez was also in fine form that day, with his tactics being spot on and his press conferences entertaining. Benitez's mention of United being under pressure made for a slight jibe at Ferguson and encouragement for his own team, which would see Liverpool go on to perform well for the rest of the season, albeit still unable to overhaul the Red Devils.
To me, that goal recalls the Shankly spirit - the irreplaceable bond between the fans, the players and the manager in football.
2. Philipp Lahm's late strike against Turkey in Euro 2008. In a man-of-the-match winning performance, Philipp's incredible run through the Turkish defence followed up by the right-footed blast into the top corner was beautiful to watch. For someone who rarely scores goals, the ones he does manage to put into the net are remarkably good and important to boot.
3. David Beckham's 50-yard goal. Yes, that one. It is just a great piece of quick thinking that resulted in a goal that will always be remembered together with the Beckham legend.
