Foodie Amber Ross runs a vlog called Amber’s Kitchen where she shows off her cooking skills and talk about food. Growing up, Amber enjoyed watching cooking shows with her mother and helping her in the kitchen. Experimenting with different things and coming up with yummy recipes is her favorite thing to do and the best part of coming up with a great recipe is sharing it. At the suggestion of her friends and family, along with her growing interest in food vlogs, Amber was inspired to start her own channel.

So after a few weeks of teaching herself the basics about vlogging, coming up with cool recipes and looking up fun food facts, Amber’s Kitchen was ready to make its debut. As the months passed, Amber’s Kitchen steadily gained more subscribers while Amber experimented with different ways to film. Running a vlog was fun but after a while Amber felt like she was stuck. Ideas weren’t coming as quickly anymore and as much as she didn’t want to admit it, she was getting kind of bored with the routine. Constantly coming up with new ideas to make each video different was tiring and with things like school and family stuff, it wasn’t as fun anymore.

With events like her mother’s remarriage and moving to the island to revive her stepfamily’s restaurant, Amber decided to take a break from her series. Helping Nate reopen The Sushi Pond was a lot of work but it gave her the creative boost she needed to become inspired again. When things with The Sushi Pond settled down, Amber began working on her vlog again, coming up with new ideas to build on and improve it.

However the new and improved Amber’s Kitchen didn’t really take off until Amber signed up to be a contestant on Cooking Competitor. While her vlog was picking up activity again, Amber felt like it was still missing something. Coming up with new recipes and giving the series a new makeover wasn’t enough to really set herself apart from every other cooking channels online. Then while looking to other popular vloggers for ideas, she came across a commercial for a reality TV cooking show. Being a fan of cooking competitors, Amber binged watched the show and wondered if she could ever picture herself in a show like that. When she went to the website she was surprised to find out that Cooking Competitor was looking for aspiring chefs for the new season. After reading the qualifications, which she met, and finding out that the studio was less than an hour away, Amber signed up to join the competition.

Now she’s moved up to semi-finals and still going strong. Amber has been sharpening her kitchen skills and upping her creativity in coming up with dishes that’ll blow minds away. Her schedule is pretty hectic with school, The Sushi Pond, and the show but she still manages to find time to focus on Amber’s Kitchen. In fact, being on Cooking Competitor is boosting her vlog’s popularity, which is a nice surprise. It also helps that Amber finally found a way that works like incorporating fun food facts in her tutorials, using the opportunity to broaden her network and collaborate with other foodies, and occasionally making other types of vlogs to vary things up. While her upload schedule isn’t as consistent as she wants it to be, Amber’s glad that her series is doing well and she’s having fun with it again. After the show wraps up, she’s looking forward to putting more time into Amber’s Kitchen and whatever’s in store for her vlog’s future.
