it was very important to me when i was 19. i had gotten a little into pink floyd in high school, mostly dark side of the moon and the wall and a little bit of obscured by clouds (particularly wots the deal, which killed me and kills me always.) but in december 2018 when i got my first record player it prompted me to get further into them. my first record was dark side of the moon and the inserts enamored me. little laminates of pyramids and such. i learned more about the band and fell in love with syd. he really inspired me a lot to become myself. to really fall in love with individuality, with leaning more into being a proverbial strange bisexual man on adderall. i adored how he was so poetic and whimsical in that sixties twee way. very much a big part of who i am today. i drew over a picture of him in ms paint that summer and used it as my discord pfp up until my transition at 22. i really adored here i go a lot. its such a sweet song and it reminded me a lot of bobby darin's beyond the sea. the same type of quarter-bitter sweetness. octopus was of course a big standout. i loved his lyricism so much. i really really based my personality around him for years. long gone is such a powerful song also. its so desperate and wailing. syd barrett was a big influence on charlotte and she's not gonna forget him even if he doesnt live here no more
