The Washington DC cherry trees were a gift from Japan to commemorate the growing friendship between the two countries. The first trees were planted on March 27, 1912 by First Lady Helen Taft and the wife of the Japanese ambassador, Viscountess Chinda. - - - - - #quotes #quotesdaily #patrioticquotes #americanquotes #interestingfacts #patriotism #patriotic #americanpatriots #americanhistory #ushistory #ingodwetrust #freedom #unitedstates #american #americanstories #unionofeagles #epluribusunum #cherrytrees #washingtoncherryblossom #pearlharbor #washingtondc #tidalbasin #washingtondccherryblossoms #potomacriver #potomac #washingtondctrip #washingtondchistory (at United States of America) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCwT9BEBGZi/?igshid=1ia10m3foaiqd
