So how about that uncle robojack au
It’s actually spelled ‘best au in the world’ but it’s okay because I’m mentally incapable of going more than a week without it inserting itself into my brain and drop-kicking my heart
I’ll see your heartwarming nostalgia mention and RAISE YOU:- Gene’s family and their immense confusion and vague distaste for Jack why can’t they get a straight answer who IS this man- Jack and Gene: Comrades in fighting loudly with computers- GENE’S APPLE WATCH HE’S REAL PROUD OF- the most hyperaggressive man to ever step foot in the space equivalent of a PTA meeting- the most hyperaggressive man to ever sell baked goods in space- every time Jack mentions upgrades everyone stares for a minute expecting something impractical or gross while he’s sitting there like ‘I just meant??? heelys???’- he gets the heelys. To Meg’s ire he can nyoom zoom whenever he pleases- rubber duck of programming assistance- ‘remember to not do robot-y stuff’ ‘I get it Meg I’m not five’ [immediately proceeds to eat a soda can to intimidate a coworker] [isn’t even mad at the coworker, just wants to get a point across]- the initial re-meeting after that longass absence and it’s like the FIRST time a person is happy about the news- B&B…….B&B

You can’t challenge him to puppy dog eyes, he’s the king of that
Put yer puppies where yer eyes are, pardner
"Open your heart and talk to people, and anybody would accept you, I'm sure!"
"Oh, you're adorable." It slipped out without his meaning for it to, the condescension grating against his tongue as he tried and failed to stop it. Perhaps in an attempt to make up for it, he added, "Optimism is a noble quality in some." His eyes flicked to the side, then back, and he smiled wryly. "Not in me, though. You'll just have to be, ah, open enough for both of us."
@amidelaloi asked: "maybe you should come inside."
although connor complied with only minor hesitation, it was not without a marked degree of wariness. his experiences with official authority had not often been pleasant, and he trusted police about as much as he trusted guards and soldiers — which was to say, not as far as he could throw them. this one, at least, looked amiable enough. then again, looks could be deceiving these days. after casting a glance carefully around the office, he returned his gaze to the officer who had invited him in. "i was told you could help me."
“ I went there to protect you and you assume the worst. ”
For all that the words stung, he deserved them. When Nic had climbed over the crest of the barricade, clad not in a uniform but in plainclothes, Enjolras had immediately assumed he was there to spy. That was the way these things worked, after all. A barricade was a tried and true method of revolt, with traditions as old and familiar as the structure itself –––– including spies. The insurgents would send spies out to eavesdrop on wayward policemen and boisterous soldiers ; the police and the army, in turn, would send out spies disguised as workers and students into the streets to infiltrate the barricades. His mind came to a single conclusion upon seeing Nic, and he’d taken Nic aside rather roughly at the first opportunity. And then –––– well. Here they were.
“ I’m sorry. ”
Inadequate, he knew, but what else could he say ? I was trying to protect my friends, my men. I didn’t dare hope you’d side by me in this fight. I thought perhaps my father sent you. It didn’t matter, anyway. What was done was done, and there were more important matters to tend to now. If Nic were upset at him, it would hurt, yes ; but he would have to learn to cope with that. There was no time or energy to spare for such petty hurts, not anymore.
@amidelaloi
“Enemies for life? Because I beat you in Smash Brothers? That’s a little harsh don’t you think?”
“You’ve beaten me every single time. I think I’m being relatively easy on you, given the circumstances.”
“I hope you know what you’re doing.”
– @amidelaloi
“Of course I know what I’m doing, I’ve done this a million times before.” Enjolras pulls a loose bit of the fence aside, walking through. “The fence is just a suggestion, there’s never anyone here. It’ll be fine.”
