Recording Guitars with the JamUp Pro iOS App

A few weeks ago, I downloaded the free JamUp Pro app from Postiive Grid after watching some impressive demos on YouTube. I figured this app would be perfect for me, as I love using amp sims but my main DAW is Propellerhead Reason, which comes stock with limited (and crappy) Line 6 amp sim devices and currently offers no Rack Extensions (Propellerheads' version of plug-ins) for guitarists and bassists. I've been looking for a way to record great high gain tones within Reason without having to spend money on more Line 6 products and be tied to that, or buy an expensive hardware modeler.

Here's where the JamUp app comes in. After purchasing the Positive Grid guitar interface for my iPod Touch (a mere $20), I began recording and experimenting with the app. I must say, I love this thing. I love it so much that I bought an expansion pack which gave me more amp sims and effects, which made me love it even more.

Here's a short tone test I did today using the JamUp app and Reason. This is just a quick mix, and there's no bass guitar yet, so bear with me! (Also, SoundCloud quality is a bit lacking.)

And here are some of the videos I checked out before purchasing the app. I highly recommend subscribing to Keith Merrow and Ola Englund's YouTube channels, they do great videos and are BADASS guitarists!
