Hopeful Devastation || The Carrows

Long strides covered the length of the room they shared. The clip of heels resounded, the only form of armor she could afford with Amy. The redhead had let this subject sit quiet and unknown for far too long, trying to find how best to present it. Alecto had needed the time to steel her heart... and hide the knives.

Hearing him enter the house, she went to their doorway to watch him for a moment before stepping out. This conversation had no place in their safe haven, fabric filled with sighs and long nights that turned into perfect days. “Amy,” she called to him, stepping into their small parlor to wait for him.

Happy Birthday, Dear | Regulus and Amycus

In the end, when it came to Amycus’ birthday gift, Regulus decided that alcohol would do. So he got a Cognac – one of those wonderful brands that is both fine and exquisite to the taste, but has a rough edge to it. The sort that leave a nice warm tingle, just this side of a burn, as it goes down and makes you feel heady  before you know it.

When he first got to the party, Regulus got a chance to talk to Alecto but only saw Amycus briefly. A little later in the night, Regulus got a chance to finally corner Amycus. “Carrow, come here.” He grinned and waved for Amycus to come over. “Happy birthday, loser.” Regulus, who had already had a couple of drinks with others was in a far more relaxed mood that usual. Most of the people there were their classmates and other people around their age. This was not a formal event, so Regulus, despite being dressed in very nice robes, felt in unnecessary to be any sort of formal.

He held out the bottle of cognac to Amycus. “As cliché as it is, I got you alcohol. It’s very good alcohol, however.”

A Charm About the Forbidden

Silence filled the manor, heavy and oppressive though the flame-haired young woman couldn’t find it in herself to care. It was the natural state of the place they inhabited, as she couldn’t call it a home. The very word held the connotation of warmth, love, caring... all things that lacked in the Carrow family. All except between two of them.

Alecto’s heels clicked on the marble floor as she made her way through the halls, ignoring the portraits that lined the walls. Their parents had thought putting their rooms on opposite ends of the manor would keep them apart. They underestimated the bond between the twins, greatly, and always had. One thing Alecto had always excelled in was rebellion, and this was of the highest form.

She didn’t knock, nor could she remember a time she ever did. Her long fingers wrapped around the cold handle and simply pushed the door open. Her eyes drifted around until she located the one person who the simple sight of would make her smile. Walking over, she draped herself over his back, her arms sliding around him as her hair created a curtain around them. “What are you doing?” Her voice was husky as it always was, her lips brushing over his ear as she spoke.
