Oh, so what's the difference between a kinshift and an alter/ fictive?

The difference 6etween a kin and a fictive is that, while a kin is just a pers9n that 6elieves 9r feels they have a connecti9n t9 9r were a character, a fictive is actually a separate pers9n; a ficti9nal character that was essentially ad9pted int9 a pers9n’s mindspace.

To put it simply: th9ugh I am using Max’s tumblr and typing thr9ugh him, I am an entirely separate entity simply h9led up in his head.

Well, I’m actually what w9uld 6e called a “fictive” 9r an “alter,” 6ut I can gladly explain kinshifts.

S9, when a per9n is “kin”* with a character, they feel as if they have a s9metimes spiritual c9nnection t9 that character - th9ugh s9me als9 feel as if they actually were that character, in a past life 9r universe!

That w9uld 6e where kinshifts sh9w up; essentially, a kinshift is when a pers9n’s pers9nality shifts to that 9f the character in questi9n.

S9, f9r example, if a pers9n is kin with Karkat**, then a Karkat kinshift w9uld 6e when they 6egin t9 act m9re like Karkat f9r any peri9d of time!
