I’m still analyzing Sharon to a tee because I want to keep her alive and this thread too. So this is my take (please, feel free to tell me to stop if I’m becoming too annoying with these posts.)

Every time Sharon had a bad day, she would go home, leave her uncomfortable shoes to put home footwear and go straight to the kitchen, where she would pour a glass of wine. I don’t recall seeing her doing that ever since Andy moved in with her (maybe I’m wrong, I’m not really sure). Anyway, do you think she stopped drinking wine because of Andy’s addiction (to me doubtful) or because Andy comforted her enough to forget her bad days? 

BTW, I can’t forget MC’s first episode, when she’s had one of the worst days of her life after being yelled at by everybody, so she sits on the couch and hugs a pillow. My heart broke at this gesture because it showed how much she needed a hug and how alone she was, my poor baby.

Thank you for your inputs on my analysis of Sharon Raydor, I love them.  :)

Thinking about her, I wondered why she loved the rules and the church so much and my theory is this:

When her life was the most chaotic possible, with a gambler, a drunk of a husband, two small children and her job, she found in the church the help she needed to raise her kids, a confident when she didn’t have anyone else to talk to (father Stan),  and someone to believe in when humanity was hard to stand (God) to give her hope for the future. The church became the ally she so desperately needed when she was most alone and had the worst problems.

Now, the rules gave her the structure she needed to find stability. Rules are what they are, there’s no hidden meaning in them. So it’s easy to say “you follow them or you don’t.”, “they work or they don’t.” When she became the head of FID, she even wrote and implemented more rules and that gave her more power. Because she knew them to the letter, she knew how they worked and made the rest of the department follow them. Rules were her friend because she knew what to expect from them and were the opposite of what Jack meant. So when Andy came into her life, that strength faltered a little because Andy was also the opposite of rules. Only he was so enticed with her that he finally understood why the rules were there and why Sharon loved them so much. 

So that’s why I think she loves the church and the rules so much. They gave her the stability she needed when her life was anything but stable,
