Anamorphic Projection (Four)
Video clip of maquette to show distortion with movement and preferred viewpoint. As mentioned previously somethings the eye sees well and somethings the camera, the camera has a monoscopic view and sees this kind of thing really well.
Anamorphic Projections
I was quite taken by the anamorphic projection in the Salford Uni grad show so I decided to have a little play with my usual maquette making. These are drawings that have a very restricted view point to be seen correctly and usually appear to be three dimensional.

First attempt in sort of 3D (if you use a sheet of paper one each for x,y and z but only draw on each in 2D is is 2.5D?)
Added cross hairs on virtual faces.
With the cube at an angle the drawing becomes more complex since five of the faces now cross onto other sheets.
Some of the rules are quite obvious, for example any line that doesn’t cross an axis is straight. I expect that it is possible to calculate the kick as a line crosses an axis but I don’t have the maths so eyeballing them and tweaking seems to be the best bet. As mentioned in other posts some things the camera sees well and this are one of those cases.
