The human voice: Did you know the vocal cords (folds) vibrate about 100 to 1000 times a second to produce sound as air flows through them. The muscles in the larynx determine pitch based on the length and degree of tension in the folds. Your unique voice is the product of the air flow (lungs), vibrator (voice box), and resonating chambers (throat, nose, mouth, and sinuses) all working in conjunction. Another interesting fact is our own voice always sounds different to us than it does to others because of these internal acoustics and bone conduction; others are only exposed to our voice combined with atmospheric interference, whereas we only ever here it that way when recorded which sounds jarring and distorted in comparison to our accustomed acoustics. This was inspired by an Adobe Live session featuring Orlando Arocena @mexifunk. Watching him work really opened my eyes to what could be possible with Illustrator. I decided to go in a completely different direction with the idea of an "instrument" and took it as an opportunity to finally attempt an anatomy illustration similar to those I'd be in awe of as a kid with all their components and details giving form to the inner workings of the body we're never likely to see with our own eyes.
