for no reason in particular i am thinking a lot about ancaux nny recently and i know i never finished ancaux but i just want to clarify out loud for the class that nny being hospitalized and medicated was never supposed to be like. interpreted as a Good thing.

it is supposed to demonstrate how society thinks there is like. one blanket solution for every problematic or unsavory behavior, there's no actual thought or care put into his treatment, he's stuck in this dead-end job he hates and has to scrounge for creative fulfillment any way he can (painting blank walls), he's ostracised by the City and still continuously harassed for his actions despite perfectly complying to their wishes and being a completely benign member of society.

in the next chapter (spoilerssssss) it was going to be revealed that devi roping him into her cleanup triggered a huge psychotic episode in nny, he was promptly fired from his job and forced to go back into a partial inpatient program all because he was A Little Loud at work one day.

so. idk. i just hope that. all my commentary i shoved into ancaux came through. therapy is not meant to be seen as like Oh Thank God in this fic. every "solution" exhibited in ancaux is temporary. that's why devi's still actively suffering, that's why she's pushed to a breaking point! because no one actually Cares about her or nny or anyone. they just want people to shut up about it.
