This year my Maternal Grandmother's birthday fell on Thanksgiving. For some reason within myself I had a urge to buy her a cake, knowing that nudge may have been from her and my Ancestors. Although my Grandmother has long passed in 2004, she have been in my thoughts on and off through the years. It's funny, when I placed the cake at my parents table, everyone automatically knew not to touch it. Subconsciously, I wanted the cake to be just for her. I think my Grandmother really wanted the cake and was sending that message around, because my sister had the same inclination to purchase her a cake too. All it took was one question to my Dad..."Who was Grandma's father?"... to open up a door to Pandora box leading to my Ancestors. That was a question I didn't ask until I was in my 30s. Growing up I had no clue, nor interest. Come to find out, my Grandmother who I had lived with at one point, was half Caucasian. Discovering my Great Grandfather gave me access to Ancestors that would have forever been unknown to me. Through this search I have discovered, Knights, Castles and things beyond my comprehension.
