At an estimated 3,800 years old, this olive tree is one of the oldest on earth.

“Standing 14 meters tall with a trunk that measures 20 meters in circumference, the Patriarca Verde, or “Green Patriarch,” is estimated to be 3,800 years old, making it not only one of the oldest trees in Europe, but in the world as well. Locals call it S’Ozzastru, which in Sardo (Sardinian dialect) translates to “the wisdom of old age.” While the green giant (a female tree) is fenced off to prevent visitors from hanging on her branches, she neighbors a much younger male wild olive tree (a mere 2,500 years old), whose canopy visitors can enter to see its dense, twisting branches dip into and out of the ground”

Ahh, the design aesthetes of Italians! This is another splendid contemporary country home. The mature trees, the spatial layout and the gardens just make this a very unique home indeed. Just make sure you see the kitchen island. Its a massive project by itself.

“ The television is no longer the focus of the living room, and the kitchen becomes not only a place where they eat but also a place where one can work, socialize and study. This concept is enhanced with a three-meter-long timber table cantilevered from the kitchen island that appears to float, becoming an integral part of the cooking area.”

A splendid extension cum renovation in this Spanish home. The stone work, untreated terracotta tiles and xeriscape has a beautiful coexistence that speaks only of harmony. The pool is magnificent by the inclusion of the ancient Olive tree.

There is white then there is whitewash. This whitewash finish reminds me of my Grandfathers Village. All the houses used to have a tiled roof with wooden rafters, beautifully whitewashed walls both interior and exterior. A small little verandah and the cupboards/shelves were all built in.
