At the moment specifically about BAKUGOU AND HIS PROCESS OF PICKING A HERO NAME
So the best that he could come up with was “King Explosion Murder” or “Bakusatsuo” in Japanese. He then changed it to Lord instead of King
But just.
Katsuki isn’t stupid. The fact that he came up with a cleaver pun aside, why was that the best he could do???
He’s THIRD best in the c l a s s academically. And yes, it’s no secret that he doesn’t get social norms, but he’s smart, he undoubtedly has a large vocabulary, even if he doesn’t always make use of it. Surely he could’ve played with more options and come up with something acceptable eventually. But no, he couldn’t come up with anythiNG eLSE
And. That just speaks volumes of how he sees himself, how he sees his own powers and abilities.
He’s strong, the best of the best ability wise, and he KNOWS it. He doesn’t doubt it.
But what does that boil down to? Explosions. Power. Ending people and stopping them with brute force (murder)
Katsuki doesn’t SEE any other value in himself.
Because that’s all anyone has ever praised him for.
“Explosions are so cool! You can beat anyone with that!”
Because that’s all his quirk boils down to in his eyes.
Explosions. Power. The End.
What else is he without the explosions??? What else is he without the brute strength and relentless attacks???
His quirk. His power. His villainous tendencies. WHAT ELSE DOES HE HAVE?
Nothing. That’s all the current ‘he’ is.
And that’s why Best Jeanist’s words are so important.

Jeanist is saying that Katsuki can be more than explosion and murder. He’s saying it’s okay to BECOME more than just that.
A wish.
We already know that Katsuki has been regretting who he was in the past. He’s trying his best to make amends. ( for the record, when he took that hit for Midoriya in ch 285, that wasn’t part of his atonement. As he said, his body moved on its own. He wasn’t trying to make up for anything by taking that hit. He just did it ) But as All Might said, all the times he’s been helping Midoriya with his training? That was his atonement.
( AND FOR THE RECORD, that is a HUGE thing for Katsuki. Like. This is Midoriya. He’s been so AFRAID of Midoriya surpassing him for so long. Yet here he is. Helping that same Midoriya get bETTER without any ill will at all. That said, it’s not enough, not yet. Katsuki needs to do more, better. Midoriya deserves more from him. But I believe Katsuki will get there. )
ANYWAYS I GOT SIDETRACKED
BuT YEAH Katsuki regrets who he was. He’s trying to change. Be someone better.
And , he wants a new BEGINNING. From here on, he is going to become a true HERO, someone better than who he used to be.
That, is his wish.
And, I want to make a distinction. It’s not a ‘fresh start’ he’s looking for. It’s Ground Zero. Ground Zero, which only happens after an explosion.
He’s fully intending to KILL his past. Not run away from it. Not ignore it. He’s going to face it head on, and kill it with his own two hands. By making amends. By acknowledging all his mistakes, and doing something about it. Anything else would mean it can come back to haunt him. But he’s done with regrets. He’s done with who he was. He’s going to kill it all.
After all, he’s no coward, and he does not take shortcuts.
Because that’s the Hero he wants to be.
Who he’s going to be.
Someone more than just his powerful explosions. Where his explosions are more than just power and death and endings.
They are a promise of Ground Zero.
