Hey I realize that we’re talking about Hubzilla and Federated Fandom over on DW, but DW really isn’t the target audience for it--it’s disgruntled Tumblr and Twitter users!

If you would like to be on a startup Tumblr/Twitter/Facebook type social media site that is not owned by corporate overlords but is instead more of a fannish commune of--local severs owned by individual fans where you can camp out and move between them, and where your local commune!Tumblr can interoperate with other people’s commune!Twitter or commune!Facebook or commune!YouTube, please consider learning about Federation. It’s new, it’s still starting up, people are banging on the tires and the talk on the few extant communes is mostly, “Whoa, what are we doing / how does this work/ can we do X?” but maybe keep an eye out or if you’re adventurous, come try! (If you’re really adventurous, try installing an instance/opening a farm!)
