Hello! First, a little 🥹♥️ for revisiting that work. I think it’ll eternally bring me joy knowing people still love on it.
Anyway! With Patrick, it’s important to note he was an accidental OC. He was supposed to be some innocent bystander we saw once or twice that Jack was jealous of for no good reason. His inspiration was literally:

From there, Patrick took on a life of his own, which I suppose I should have seen coming since Rhys didn’t seem to have anyone outside of those he closely worked with (Zer0/Lor). That said, a lot of tcwm was spent mirroring Rhys & Jack, & Patrick ended up being a really good tool for me to highlight certain aspects & differences, & I think that naturally leaned into the crush vibes? While that wasn’t my intention, I think it’s more than fair to read it like that. Because I can 100% see it, especially earlier on than I cover when Patrick would have been new & his hero worship would have been a lot more front & center. Maybe that’s why Lor is so hellbent on making fun of him for his “nonexistent crush” too lol. Like it’s totally plausible!
