Picture it. You’re a cop. A suspect you brought in dies bc he killed himself after you and your partner keep accusing him of a crime he didn’t commit. You get blamed for it completely. Partner goes off to do bigger and better things bc he’s a nepo baby. He was also kind of your boyfriend and that’s over now.
And then a couple of years later you’re back to work on a new case. Super big bloody murder case. It’s very weird. You meet a witness at the scene. At first you think he did something but he gets cleared so never mind. Also he’s basically a puppy in human form. Like he’s very cute. And he’s got gorgeous eyes. And he’s also kind of helpful to the case. So you keep him around. “Spiritual consultant” and all that. And he lives with you and cooks and he’s just nice to have around and even though he sees ghosts (you don’t believe in ghosts) you know something WEIRD is going on so you don’t write him off and you protect him and bring him back down to earth. And again, you really like having him around. And your ex partner/situationship/whatever comes back and causes problems but it’s fine you can handle and you’ve got a cute puppy now you don’t care about some sleazy cop.
But then. THEN. Right after this cute guy and you kiss and he does ~other stuff~ to you and you’ve kind of finally come to a consensus on where this is going when the case is over and everything. Sleazy ex comes and ARRESTS HIM FOR MURDER. AT YOUR HOUSE. RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. Bc of course he does why have some integrity when you need to get a case solved as soon as soon as possible. Of course he’s going to arrest your puppy even when it MAKES NO SENSE
