The forests are dry deciduous types mixed. Although teak dominates the floral diversity is amazing with small crop grasslands interspersed along with water bodies.
The mammals found are deer, wild dog, bison, leopard, sloth bear and Nilgai antelope. The bird life is diverse as well with more than two avian species.
The excursions are carried out in open jeeps with those having the permit to enter the tourist zone. There are few tourists zone for which a permit is allotted. The tiger safaris are conducted in the early morning and in the afternoon till dusk.
Along with other animals tiger sighting excels and so does the sightings of sloth bear and the leopard. That is why tourists flock in great numbers every year to see the big game.
The tourism infrastructure is good at Tadoba. A large number of hotels and resorts offer luxury accommodation. For tiger safaris at least three night stay is ideal. Hence the need for accommodation.
The route taken is from Nagpur Airport and then via Chandrapur township to the respective gate. For visiting, the Tadoba Tiger Reserve needs advance arrangements. Travel bookings, accommodations and safari permits should be booked in advance. The park is closed during the monsoon starting from 1st July to September. It reopens in the month of October.
