Blame it on my Angel rewatch (I'm on S2) but I can't help imagining Nick going to Caritas to seek guidance from the host, and accidentally ends up bombarding the poor guy with his crippling depression and low self worth. Everyone he enjoying the performance like "Wow, he can really sing, huh?"
