Angelification

Occurs when a human being is transformed into an angel.  The best known instance of this is the prophet Enoch who became the great angel Metatron.  According to tradition, the prophet Elijah became the angelic prince Sandalphon, who is sometimes referred to as Metatron's brother.  St. Francis of Assisi is also believed to have become the angel Rahmiel.  Jacob became the Archangel Uriel, and become the Virgin Mary's mother Anne became the angel Anas.  Moroni, the angel who communicated with Joseph Smith and told him where the gold plates containing the Book of Mormon were buried, is believed to have originally been a man also named Moroni.
