Angel had been doing somewhat better than when Nisha first visited her after the performance drop-off. She had kept in contact with the Lawbringer daily, talking about anything and everything they could to take their minds off of the situation at hand. Jack had been hounding Angel for her performance, aggravated that she was not able to live up to his expectations any longer. From what Angel could tell, he hadn't realized the Eridium being supplied to her was changed.
Nisha tossed and turned in her bed. She was having a nightmare again, about her childhood.“You need to learn some manners...” the voice was deep, far deeper than her mother’s real one. Her mother loomed over her, a behemoth 20 meters tall. She held a triple-headed whip, and with it, she lashed her terrified daughter. “You’re a terrible daughter...” Nisha begged her mother to stop, pleaded that she’d be good... but it fell on deaf ears as her mother laughed and tore at her daughter’s skin. Her eyes blazed with a golden fire, filled with hate. She beat her daughter again, and again, and again...“NO!” Nisha bolted upright, covered in sweat. She was shaking. She was always shaking. Where was she?! Was her mom here? Gradually she became aware of her surroundings. She was all right... well, as all right as she could be, under the circumstances... which wasn’t all right at all. Shaking, she picked up her Echo. She felt bad bothering Angel at this time of night, but she needed someone... anyone... to talk to. She dialed out to Angel and held the Echo up to her ear as it rang.
