I’m trying to find old stuff for that contest and instead keep running into things like this

Hazel put the flower down by the stranger before she trotted up closer to nuzzle against her leg happily, showing she was friendly and open to pets.
"I'm gonna go sell grass to middle schoolers and tell them it's weed, you in?"

Ayane relaxed a bit hearing Rin, turning her head to where his voice was coming from before raising a brow, "misprinted..?" She was confused for a moment before realizing that he must not be aware of her disability. She never outright stated it to him, just assumed the context clues, her guiding cane and how she never really directly looked at anyone, would be picked up.
"Rin.. did you not know that I'm blind..?" There's slight amusement in her tone, but no judgment or mockery, "The book is written in braille so I can try to read it,"

Emilia was annoyed, grey eyes turning red in rage as the fae hunters cornered her. She had gone to the town to get repairs on Elwin's saber, but they followed after her when she had shifted out of a disguise. One hunter grabbed her wrist, burning her with the iron glove he wore as she screamed out and kicked him away from her. She held her staff tightly in her hands, she began casting her spell as they launched a net made of iron chainmail at her. She ducked away from the net as she cast her explosion spell, killing the hunters easily.
"Pathetic..." she huffed before examining their belongings. Maybe they would have some gold or some valuables she could present to Elwin as a gift. Emilia found a small pouch in their bag and opened it, her eyes widening as the powder blew into the air. It was a bag of mushroom spores that were toxic to certain fae creatures. It wasn't fatal but weakened them significantly.
Emilia coughed as she tried to cover her mouth and back away, her eyes dulling and vision going black as she fell unconscious, mentally scolding herself and expecting Elwin to be ashamed when she eventually returned. She just hoped these hunters had no friends she needed to worry about.

Wren had gotten into another fight with the ringleader over their right to be freed. They said the wrong thing in their rage, Alois using the choker to shock and burn them, before having them thrown into a cage behind the tents with the rest of the animals used in their show to remind them that they were a prop and nothing more.
Wren laid on the padded ground of the cage, staring at the ceiling before they heard the leaves rustling, movement, then a twig snapping, someone was sneaking around. They stood and approached the bars, careful not to touch since the iron would burn them,
"I can hear you," they called out, "no one else is around and I do not snitch, so if you wish to show yourself instead of pretending to be stealthy, you may do so safely," the changeling's red eyes scanned the area the noises came from, wincing as they accidentally brushed against the bars.

Thyme was exhausted from running for so long. They had to get as far as possible from the clan so they hadn't stopped for a week. Luckily, their kind didn't need much sleep, but they were running out of steam and needed to stop.
The plantmancer was quiet as they found a clearing they could camp in. A hand gently pressed against the trunk of a tree, "my friends... please hear my plea," they spoke as their hand glowed faintly connecting them directly with the tree and spreading their message through the roots to the others, "I require rest and request sanctuary, warn me if any intruders come this way, take my strength to trap them and allow me to escape.."
The roots shifted under the ground, creating a web of sensors on the floor of the forest, Thyme smiled softly and began to climb one of the trees to nestle in among the leaves for the night. A few hours of sleep were all they needed to survive another week. They slept for a while before the trap was triggered, the roots wrapping around the limbs and body of the intruder to hold him in place while the leaves warned Thyme to run. Thyme awakened and glanced down to see who or what had been trapped, relaxing as they saw it was a bear rather than anyone from the clan.
They slid down carefully, holding a hand out to say they weren't a threat, "easy, friend, this was an misunderstanding, I will free you but you must stay still,"
