Neal Barr opened his photo studio in New York City in 1962, specializing in fashion and beauty assignments for magazines and advertising age

I’ve admired his work for years. A friend here in Tucson has been to Neal’s home in California and spent some time with him reviewing and appreciating each other’s work.

ACCEPTED!!! I’M GETTING MY MASTER’S DEGREE!!! I’M GOING TO BE A TROJAN!!!

Five years ago, I graduated from the top undergraduate program for communication at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication.

Today, I’m proud to officially announce that I’ve been accepted into the top graduate program in the field at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism!

I will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Communication Management that will help advance my career goals for executive-level media leadership. I am proud to be admitted into this program on a scholarship and receiving a world-class education from some of the industry’s leading professionals.

Before anyone begins to panic -- I am not going anywhere. I will still be residing in Philadelphia and advancing my current journalism career. Fortunately, I will be a part-time student and take courses remotely and online starting in September. I am scheduled to complete the program by the end of 2020 with a spring 2021 graduation in Los Angeles, so this will be a very flexible and productive experience.

Thank you to those who helped me with this very top-secret endeavor. Your recommendation letters, words of wisdom, and immense preparation made this process worthwhile. I am completely grateful for the motivation, as this came as a complete shock for me that I would ever be pursuing another degree after undergrad. But I guess you can never say never for a reason.

This year has been full of the unexpected, and I’ve been embracing all of the incredible opportunities that have come my way!

I’m a Quaker who’s now a Trojan. Watch out now!
