I will never forgive school for making me dread learning my native language.

I had to learn formal Cymraeg until GCSE and it was awful but the language itself is so beautiful why would they make the classes so boring and stressful when all they'd have to do was teach us our history, show us our songs and folklore for us to be engaged?!?!

Why did we have to learn for a grade instead of reconnecting with our culture?!?!?

Anyways i highly recommend learning Cymraeg, whether you're Cymru or not, its a beautiful language that barely survived colonization by the Saes

they exploit our natural resources. our labour. and then go. leaving us with nothing but devastated communities. and then mock us. our language. our people. what little industry we have left. say that we're dependent on them. that we couldn't support ourselves. pretend we don't exist. and yet they use our land as their playground. they still drive people out of their communities. and for what purpose? why must we put up with centuries of this? of having our resources taken. our labour used and then cast aside once it's no longer needed. our language suppressed and driven almost to the brink of extinction. being treated as a sponge, despite all this. How many more years of this do they expect us to take?

Uhh I'm not the biggest crier to be honest? Sooo probably music? Especially spontaneous or social singing? That's probably the best guarantee that I'll get choked up lol. Like hearing my national anthem at an international match gets me every time lol. There's just something about listening to a stadium full of 70,000 Welsh people sing, in a thousand year old language, about the land of their fathers that just ruins me emotionally lol

Do you ever obliquely hear about what's going on in England & think to yourself "Thank Fuck for devolution" and also "If we were an independent country, we'd probably intervene & try to help some of those folks". And then realise the irony of not being able to help a country that owns yours, because they won't let you take care of your own finances, like they're some loser husband from the 1500s?
