Where are you from?
I am from a wandering home, restless against the west coast.
From birthday celebrations at the stroke of midnight,
I am from a new start with feasts and fireworks.
Where manners are enforced with a raise of vocals.
I am from wrestling and hide seek,
Silly games that bind us like a freshly-printed novel.
I am from superstitions and natural remedies.
From beliefs in the greater power, watching over us like a booming cloud.
I am from stubborn, passed on through blood, like an unholy curse.
Where old values are held high, no room for today.
I am from cousins on my mother’s side and my father’s.
From dinners, large and loud, on each and every occasion.
I am from walks in nature and playground visits.
Where money has no real value, other than to pay bills.
I am from vegetable gardens and that apple tree in the back.
I am from support, care and love.
