10. A [Poem] about a moment of significance
It was in the moment where I looked at you and thought -
I just don't care.
So what if I see things in my "rose-colored" light?
This cacophony of thoughts in my head is starting to sound like a symphony
and frankly,
I don't need you to be conducting it anymore.
It was in the moment when I looked at him and thought -
You've hurt me. You tore me to pieces and walked away when I was begging you to
not. be. like. the. rest.
It was in the moment when I stood up, held my head high,
and walked away.
It was in the moment when I realized there are two people in this world
who are everything to me,
but I don't need anyone to save me anymore.
They won't leave me, because
they love me.
It was when I screamed all the
truths and
lies
and
secrets and promises and
regrets that I held in for
what seemed like ages.
I opened the moth-eaten, yellow-paged "fairytale" that I thought was going to be my life.
I revised it.
Started over.
I finally started writing for me.
