i'm thinking of Eremika in AOT no titan AU. Like The Lost Girl but they're just living. A 9 y.o Eren with Grisha visiting the Ackerman's and they ended up being friends who visit each other often 🤔 Mikasa regularly visits the Jaeger's home even after her mother give birth and Carla keep cooing at them both and visually planning their marriage (or something) lmao. Basically the real childhood friends to lovers experience.

WAAAAIT, hear me out because i need a canonverse divergence au, kind of lost girl–adjacent, but with absolutely no titans at all (just as you said). mikasa lives isolated in the mountains, eren is from the city.

eren still wants to join the military and he actually does at fifteen, but this time it is not only about freedom or ideals, it is about him, about building something solid enough that he can come back to her with a future in his hands. he works himself raw in the military, pushing harder than anyone else because rank and pay matter, because money means stability, because marrying mikasa as soon as he possibly can becomes the thing that keeps him standing!!!

now imagine mikasa visiting him while he is stationed there, already his girlfriend, and everyone is jealous 🤭🤭🤭 everyone wonders how the hell eren managed to have such a beautiful girl at his side 🤭🤭🤭

just so you knowww: he’s actually charged with protecting her because of a promise he made to her father when he was almost dying (yes, very tpp-coded, i know ahaha). eren swore he would look after her… except he doesn’t even meet mikasa until three years later, when he finally manages to find her. and by that point everything has already fallen apart. mikasa’s family is gone, and she’s the last princess of paradis. officially people call her the princess of hizuru because of her mother, but either way she’s basically the last remnant of a destroyed royal line. so from the moment eren finds her there’s already this huge sense of responsibility weighing on him. he promised her father. he feels like he owes it to him to protect her. and the worst part is that he spent years carrying that promise without even knowing what she was like.

and then he finally meets her 😭

so yes, once they’re married he would absolutely be down horrendous helping her with everything. anything she needs, anything she wants, he’s already doing it. even after she gets stronger and doesn’t technically need that level of protection anymore, he’s still there like: “no, no, let me handle it.”

sir took one look at the girl he promised to protect and said “this is now my entire life’s purpose.” 😭♥️

btw, eren has a lame leg in this fic, so carrying mikasa means physical effort for him, but he does it regardless. A MAN!!!

it’s literally just fiction for me at the end of the day, so it’s really not something i need to stress about in real life hahaha. so yeah, i’m going to write about eremika having pregnancies and raising kids as many times as i want hahaha. people can block or scroll if it bothers them that much hehe

HE IS!!!! and the funniest part is that it’s not even a real marriage. like… okay, it is a marriage, technically. the papers are signed, the arrangement exists, all of that. but it’s not supposed to last more than a year. they only got married because mikasa needs protection. there are people trying to use her for political purposes, trying to pull her into schemes and power games, and eren happens to be the perfect choice to shield her from that. he has the influence, the reputation, and the authority to keep those people away from her. so the marriage is basically a political solution, a temporary protection. and eren agrees to it because he has the means to protect her. even with his lame leg, he’s still a powerful figure, still someone people won’t dare challenge easily.

so the idea is simple: a marriage of convenience that will quietly end after a year once the situation settles. which makes it even funnier, and honestly more devastating, that eren ends up being so devoted anyway 😭 because technically he doesn’t have to be. the whole arrangement is temporary. he could just do the bare minimum, fulfill the agreement, and keep everything distant and formal. but no. instead he chooses to care. he chooses to be attentive, protective, and loyal in ways that go far beyond what the arrangement requires. and that’s exactly what makes the whole thing so dangerous for his heart 🥹🥹🥹♥️

oh i can absolutely see someone trying to start that rumor. probably some lady who had her eyes on eren at some point and did not take it well when things didn’t go her way. imagine her spreading the idea that mikasa somehow “trapped” him into marriage or that she is now cheating on him!!!!!!! except… eren chose mikasa. very clearly. so when those rumors eventually reach his ears? oh my god. he is fuming. absolutely livid. like sir-level anger. the kind where people in the room start slowly reconsidering all their life choices??? not because it is insulting to him, it is insulting to mikasa!!!! and that is definitely the faster way to get on eren’s bad side!!!!

also btw guys, what do you think about me posting the “everything you need to know about the arranged marriage au???” :D i’ve been thinking it might be fun to share some of the worldbuilding, little details, and background lore behind the story. i feel like there are so many things in my head about this au that never fully make it onto the page, so it could be nice to talk about them a bit!

General Eren secretly sneaking in a 2nd ration of sweets for Mikasa ( he gave her his)

ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THAT GENERAL? THE GENERAL EREN???? oh my god, let me tell you!!!

so in the first part of the story, eren rescues mikasa from trafficking and captivity. she’s been trapped there for two years, by the way. two whole years. my poor baby. so when he finds her, she’s in terrible shape, severely underweight and exhausted. the first thing he does is take her to a hospital (a victorian hospital) she’s kept there for a while so she can recover. the doctors insist she needs nourishing meals, regular food, proper portions, all of that. very sensible. very medical. but mikasa, who has spent two years starving and miserable, wants chocolate and honestly, who can blame her!!! so of course we get the image of general jaeger himself visiting her while she’s recovering. he comes by because he’s checking on her, making sure she’s safe, and also because her future is still being decided, where she’ll go, what will happen next (she is the last princess of her royal family, so she is a treat as paradis is trying to become a nation) especially after the marriage proposal and everything surrounding that.

SOOOOO we can make your prompt happen there :DDD we can have this very serious, very decorated general bring with him chocolates and sneaking them because the doctor would rather have mikasa eating chicken and soup LOL
