Our current pet peeve is how condescending and upset people are getting at those who are expressing their upset over the Simply Plural (and related) situation. No, not everyone can switch to pencil and paper. Some of us have ridiculously high headcounts and have used Simply Plural for several years and can't just *poof* it all into a physical copy overnight. Some systems may not be able to safely keep a physical journal, or may find it too difficult to remember to update a physical journal as it's harder to carry with you. Others may have arthritis or other concerns that make writing a lot very difficult or painful.
It's just annoying how many people are saying "We didn't used to have Simply Plural; we can get through this!" or "Just start a physical journal!" and being so dismissive of everyone's distress.
Like. There was a time before wheelchairs. Before asthma inhalers. Before service dogs. Before classroom accommodations. That doesn't mean that all these things didn't drastically improve the lives of thousands of people after they were created and implemented. Just because it's an app that's not officially recognized as an aid (like the stuff I mentioned is), doesn't mean that SP can't be a disability aid or that losing it isn't going to severely impact people.
I'm sorry for venting. It's just frustrating me how many people are treating it like it's no big deal and that anyone who's saying it is are all being selfish and entitled for experiencing and expressing their distress
^ thissss especially with octo and sp sunsetting, they think that this isn't too big of a deal but it is, even though we have 50 members and all. we also have a journal but some headmates here have poor handwriting and its illegible to everyone or they aren't scribal. i think everyone should just be respectful of others and accept that not every system has an easy time with this. hope this made sense? -Will
