it seemed that, most of the time, he wasn’t paying attention when someone approached him to talk. or to just say random things that weren’t needed. eyes widened as he turned to look at the stranger. his features took on a look of confusion as he stared for a long moment like he needed time to comprehend what they said.

in reality? the words had sunk in almost as soon as they hit the air. it cracked at him like a whip and sunk deep into his chest.

almost like how his stomach dropped with it. and how he felt like he might throw up.

any relationship he had with someone was a sensitive subject and one that no one was able to speak negatively about. there was just something about the younger dunbar that made him so protective over any person he considered himself close to. which also meant that being the victim of any criticism or rudeness about them was never a good idea. not to mention how….. strained ryder and liam’s relationship had become so having it thrown in his face wasn’t the best feeling.

never one to fully understand emotions or what he was feeling… ryder didn’t even have any way to describe the range of emotions that swept through him. there was a large part of his mind tugging at him to just start crying and he could almost feel his body trying to make him do just that. and then came the most natural response for him- back straightened to raise him to his full height as he glared at the stranger asshole.

basically i see it a lot like an au where they form a band instead of a poetry club and i see a lot of similarities between some characters.

mr.keating would become the disgruntled music teacher, and it would take on the same idea of the importance of the humanities for high schoolers. instead of literature v. academia though it’s more focused on the performing arts.

okay so todd would definitely be olivia, the shy one who turns out to have an amazing singing voice. it would let him continue to have his arch of trying to open himself up to the world through something healthy. also i just think it’d be cute to have him be the lead singer.

charlie would become the equivalent to stella, a loudmouth and rebellious. this would be an interesting way to discuss his rule breaking attitude in terms of struggling to find his own identity within the school environment.

( i haven’t decided where any of the other characters fit in. but if anyone has any ideas feel free to add them! )

it could be set at a welton esq. school or a public school like lemonade mouth is. the setting is kind of flexible tbh.

overall i just think it would be a fun spin on the core message of dps and while the post originally was a bit of a shitpost, it could be rather good idea if handled properly.
