asking about the edit's text (the karpelupain edit), can you explain the concept of it?
the historical aspect of the concept:
Magellan’s arrival/death is on 1521.
Spanish law enforcers would have arrived a year or two later.
Historically, the Philippine Revolution started on August of 1896.
Theortically, Philippine tribes would have fought a battle against the Spanish during the 1520s.
The Spanish also raped the women during their control of the Philippines.
The Americans arrived on 1899 so control of the Phillippines went to them until the 1940s.
The Philippine Republic started on 1946.
Women were housewives until 1980s but there are still housewives around today.
The poor couldn’t afford an education so mainly the middle class and the upperclassmen was educated.
the cultural aspect of the concept:
Filipinos mostly values female hospitality and education.
We also value friendship and loyalty.
the mythological aspect of the concept:
Basically, Philippine Mythology and Folklore is mostly female driven since there are more female mythological creatures in Philippine Mythology than expected. There are male mythological figures and creatures as well as a genderless deity but not everyone in the Philippines knows about them as much as the female ones.
Female witches are very common in Philippine Mythology.
You can also go here for more creatures.
The School is founded in 1524 which is three years after Magellan’s arrival.
MACUSA arrived somewhere in the early 1900s or the same year as the Nomajs.
The rest is self explainable from the information that I’ve provided.
the meaning behind the name:
Karpe is an altered version of Kapre which is a tree demon.
Lupain translates to land in English.
Akademya translates to Academy in English.
The name basically means Tree Demon Land Academy.
It would be culturally inaccurate if the Philippine Wizarding School was founded by a group of males, so I went with a group of females and a private school for girls.
