I feel like a dumbarse for asking this but, how does the seat number(?) work? I'm not exactly sure and I don't want to make a mistake when I'm writing about my OC.

Tbh I also feel like a dumbass at times and don't worry, we all get confused!

(Disclaimer: I am not an expert, please correct me if needed)

Idk what is seat number, perhaps you mean their class numbers(?)? Like how Karma is 1, Isogai is 2, Okajima is 3. This order is determined by the first sound of a character's family name, according to the hiragana chart. I've talked about this before. For example, the first sound of Akabane is あ a, which is in front of the first sound of Isogai い i, and い is in front of the first sound of Okajima お o. And so on it goes.

As for the actual seating order, I... honestly really can't make any sense of it. Maybe a Japanese knows what's going on. It only seems to be divided into rows of boys and girls, with the exception being Itona who joined Hazama's row because he entered the class late. I also sloppily put the numbers together with the order but again, I can't see a pattern.

... yeah, it's really messy.

She threw the beach ball off of the pier and watched it float for a moment before it came shooting up into the sky and landing just a few feet away from her. 

“How far did that go?” She smiled at the mermaid clinging to one of the pier’s posts.

They’d spent hours under the pier, giggling and swapping stories. The mermaid gasped at the oddest places, like when she’d told her about their trip to the Badlands and she’d almost broken her leg tripping close to the edge. Her companion hadn’t thought much about it until she’d explained that there was no water to slow her fall if she had tripped.
