“Oya? What a pleasant surprise.” For one of them, at least. For the other, respite has come to an end; a volleyball under his arms, the sleeves of his shirt rolled up on his arms, Tetsurô forsakes the formalities of adult life for the day, reconciles with the highschooler he once was, whose greatest joys were to block impossible spikes and charmingly grate on the nerves of anyone in his immediate vicinity. The smile he offers Akaashi, though, really does let joy transpire - nostalgia really is getting the better of him, huh. This reunion around a barbecue and a few games of beach volley with most of their old friends had decidedly been a good idea.
“I wasn’t sure I’d see ya today, Akaashi. It’s been too long!” He exclaims, carefree as ever. “Eh? The owl captain’s not here yet?” Funny. All those years ago, you wouldn’t see one without the other; disappointment quickly etches itself onto his face, only to disappear just as hurriedly. Bokuto will probably join them later - if he doesn’t, well. His loss. “Nevermind him. Guess that means you’re stuck with me for now, poor you.” Lopsided grin stitched at the corner of his lips, he extends a hand and gives his companion a pat on the back. Poor Akaashi indeed. “How ‘bout we go grab a beer, and you tell me what you’ve been up to, these days?”
