"It came this close to working out as we planned," Nora snorted. "Yeah if you count almost getting caught by the Changed close, then sure, we came close." Anri huffed, blowing dark crimson curls out of her face, the ones that escaped her hair pulled into a ntteat bun covered by a kerchief that had probably at one time been someone's tablecloth or something. Whatever that had survived the explosion. This place clearly had been hit by one of the nuclear bombs, the radiation was still horrible. Luckily, as a Space Mage, Bryant had gone with the pair to wrap them in a protective bubble of clean breathable air. Still wasn't safe to really touch anything, but if they found anything of note, it would be worth it to attempt to take home. After purifying it a bit anyway. Nora sighed, stepped gingerly around a door that had somehow survived being blown off its hinges. Looked like a bomb shelter, this place was probably at one time. Some rich person's hideout. Even though it had been almost twelve years since the War, things were still just as unstable and dangerous.. maybe even more so. Anri hopped nimbly over what looked like the blown apart pieces of shelving units, though whatever had been on them was long gone, probably stolen by other explorers who could survive this place. There had to be something of interest, Nora was certain of it. She could almost reach out and taste it, she was so sure of it. Something was here. Something was calling to her and she just had to find it. The others hadn't really believed her, but as she was the de facto boss.. mostly since she was loud and bossy and the others needed someone to follow, the wolf in them too used to following an Alpha. And well, she was one. Maybe not the best Alpha, but she tried to take care of her little pack. At least while Inara was away. He was gentle and kind, but had a resolve of steel and the strength and willpower to back it up. Nora adored him, he really was the best Alpha. Prinya on the other hand, drove Nora crazy. She had her own pack to take care of, all three of the packs lived close by each other, well close as in, within walking distance and were comfortable with each other enough to spend the night on each other's pack lands should they be out long enough to worry about the sun setting and the Changed crawling out to hunt. Not that the Changed didn't hunt during the day, but it tripled at night. Nora sighed, ran her fingers through her hair and blew out a breath. Anri glanced at her in sympathy, offering, "Maybe we should come back another day? The sun is getting close to setting and we haven't found what you were searching. I'll come out with you tomorrow," She offered reasonably. Nora was sure that was the right response, it had to be. Come back tomorrow. As she sighed, and turned, a glint of light caught her attention, reflected off the setting sun. And she stepped closer, only to bend down and pick up the object. A frown, as she twisted it about in her hands. It looked like an old handheld mirror, yet the glass somehow wasn't shattered, the metal not warped from heat. It was perfectly preserved, and Nora wondered briefly how that was possible. Still, she frowned, ran her fingers over the smooth metal, only to blink as it rippled, and then twisted about, the metal melting and reforming to wrap around her wrist in a sort of bracelet. Living Metal. She'd heard of the organisms, a creation caused by the nuclear warfare, but she'd never found any before. They were supposed to be intelligent, capable of sentience, much like a very young child or maybe a dog. Cats were smarter, Nora had been told that several times in amusement by her feline friends. Shaking her head and wondering if this was what had been calling to her, Nora carefully tucked her hands into her pockets and rejoined her friend. It really was time to return home.
