A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting Elm Springs, a beautiful antebellum home built around 1837. It was built by James and Nathaniel Dick of the N & J dick company, two wealthy New Orleans cotton merchants. The home was a gift for their sister, Sarah Todd, wife of Christopher Todd formerly of Virginia. And was passed down to their daughter Susan Todd, who is the wife of Abram M. Looney, a prominent attorney in Maury County and a Tennessee state senator. during the Civil War, looney served the confederacy as a captain, later promoted to Colonel in Company H, first Tennessee infantry which Sam Watkins of “Co Aytch” fame was a member. . . #historylovers #maurycounty #maurycountytn #civilwar #antebellumhome #countryliving #greekrevival #scv #tennesseehistory (at Elm Springs) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9jpEYAHPBC/?igshid=q9zwiu6knnp4
