historical silence of an entire demographic should fill you with horror, fear, and dread, wondering "what happened here?", and not blanket assumptions that nothing happened at all. there is no mass demographic of human beings who simply sit around and do nothing, have no history, have no stories. if an entire demographic has its history missing, there is a reason for that. and that reason is damn near always violent.

I'm a big proponent of calling it transmasculine erasure instead of invisibility because I believe using the latter makes people too comfortable to dismiss it like it's just some inevitable, mysterious force of nature and therefore allows them to absolve themselves from examining if they may have any culpability in it.

the thing about "trans guys have it easier" is that when you look into it its really more of a folk myth than anything. people come up with all sorts of stories to explain this "fact." people will tell you that people seen as men are gender-policed much more harshly than people seen as women and every little deviation towards femininity is noticed and punished, and that's why trans guys have it easier. but you'll also hear people tell you that people seen as men have so much more wiggle room, men can be all kinds of sizes and shapes meanwhile people seen as women have to fit into this tiny little box, and that's why trans guys have it easier.

these are two entirely contradictory lines of logic, but they lead to the same conclusion. because the conclusion is the point. its a backformed theory of gender. people believe, for whatever reason, that "trans guys have it easier" is an objective fact, and then storytell an explanation for why that is that sounds right to them. and this isn't necessarily something that's done maliciously, which is key. its not about people twiddling their fingers and thinking about how to contribute to a massive conspiracy against transmascs. its about people just feeling, on a gut level, that trans guys must have it easier, by which they really mean, transmasculine suffering isn't socially visible, and it isn't natural for me to imagine it, therefore it must not exist; yet, trans suffering in general clearly exists, so there must be some reason that transmasculine suffering feels so abstract and immaterial to me and others.

this is why anti-transmasculinity theory is so important. all kinds of people come to this conclusion, and the best explanation for why this strange thing happens and why no one talks about it is anti-transmasculinity & erasure as a social force which people internalize.

Trans men from the global south are talking about their specific vulnerabilities and the horrific violence they face.

Trans men are asking the rest of the community to please care more about the fact that their hormones are a controlled drug and their identities are already on a controlled drug registry that can be very easily cross-referenced with agab to Pick Out The Trannies.

Trans men are talking about how TMOC have been targeted for sexual & physical harrassment because of their transmasculinitiy in detention centres.

Trans men are asking the queer community to stop claiming they have made 'no historical contributions' when 1) they have, and 2) they have been violently erased, institutionalised, and forced into marriage throughout history, and even those lucky few who went stealth were often discovered through forcible outing.

Trans men are begging the queer community to stop spreading transphobic lies that predatorjacket them as dangerous, violent rapists.

Trans men are mentioning that they are often ENTIRELY banned from playing on men's OR women's high-level sport teams, because those teams are allowed to 'make their own decisions' on whether to permit them while using a banned steroid, which usually, you guessed it, means they can't compete.

If you wanna call me a Trans Men's Rights Activist because I care about the rights of trans men, along with every other member of the trans community... go right ahead, I guess.

i apologize to my followers for discourse talk, but this was just so utterly absurd and upsetting, i had to say something.

let’s get this out of the way: if this were saying, “ftm-specific support groups that embrace binary trans men and intentionally exclude nonbinary transmascs and intersex people are bad,” i would actually agree! because those groups are exorsexist and intersexist and overall terrible. I love binary trans men, but those trans men recieve my ire.

problem: this is not what these users are bullshitting about!

intentionally flattening transmascs into “male” in order to malgender us. fun fact: “trans” is not displayed once in this whole screenshot!

assuming that misogyny is stored in the he/him pronouns

saying that a support group for a marginalized and oppressed identity whose youth suicide rate is through the fucking roof should not exist on principle because some members of that group are misogynist (do they fucking want our boys to die???)

ignoring the prevalence of support groups for (pericis) men dedicated to unlearning misogyny which, while not complete on their own, exist in tandem with other resources

somehow failing to realize that “support group” does not mean “insular community dedicated to snark, harassment, and shit talk” and instead means “a safe place to vent, celebrate, and talk about life.” Also ignores how many identity-specific support groups are open to people outside the target demographic

assuming that ftm support groups are male-only in the first place

i’m someone who seeks to uplift and love fat trans men, mascs, and all those adjacent to those identities in any way. users who say such despicable things, promote these vile beliefs, and seek to isolate us from one another are in direct opposition to everything i stand for.

the attempt at isolation really fucking gets me. because transandrophobes want us to isolate. TERFs want us isolated, transphobes want us isolated. maybe they are operating out of a personal vendetta, or perhaps general disdain and anti-transmasculinity.

doesn’t matter. down the line, isolation predictably leads to crisis and suicide. if you agree with these users, i despise you and you are not welcome.
