Today was the second day of our #morocco 'The Trilobite 's Lost Kingdom' trip. Our first stop was an #ediacaran #stromatolite site in the #antiatlas mountains. We then moved on to the #draavalley to the discovery site of giant #ordovician (Tremadocian) #trilobites Here we were able to examine and identify fragments left behind by commercial fossil miners. We the drove through a whole sequence of Ordovician rocks to reach #silurian rocks here in Ludlow aged rocks we visited an #orthocerus quarry. It is from this quarry that plates, coasters, table tops etc that are for sale in fossil shops around the world come from. We are spending the night in Alnif the self proclaimed 'Trilobite Capital of the World' http://www.geoworldtravel.com/morocco.php (at Anti-Atlas) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqLB-iGA7xQ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=185q3xw28ssg7
