The show first started back in 2003 when UPN was a channel and Tyra Banks was only 30 years old. In more than 14 years, the show has launched a shocking amount of successful careers with contestants becoming working models, actresses, and more.
- i cannot understand why, on the "all-inclusive" & "beauty standards breaking" season, they chose to crown the tall skinny young girl who gave the same bland/ blank face on all her damn photos, instead of khrystyana, the consistent talented 32 y. o. curvy model who won all those challenges and best photos
- and tbh i don't see why they love kyla so much???? she has an interesting face, sure. but she doesn't know how to work it, so her features always ends up overpowering her- making her look either dead/flat or weirdly young (i swear she looks like she's 5 on that pantene shot). and she has a mediocre walk too. so how is she better than the other finalists????
- jeana may have a rough/ bitchy attitude (though i think editing is to blame here- she went from fan fave to villain in just a snap) but at least she takes good photos and have an excellent runway walk
It started off so good, I really loved the girls and the ones who I didn’t like weren’t entirely intolerable. They seemed to see girls for the kinds of models they were and such and let girls home when it seemed like their time and i was here for it! but when they started targeting Jeana as this bad person and editing her like a “bitch”, I knew it was all going to spiral out of control. I could clearly tell that they didn’t have any more drama to fill and, thus, they created it on their own.
Rio was a little much sometimes but i 1. don’t believe Rio would have said all of that shit about Kyla and laughed about it and made jokes about it when before they clearly weren’t showing that shit. They just wanted more drama to spin around and edited Rio in a way that made her seem awful. I also feel like there’s the potential of them telling her to say some shit or getting her to say things that could edit her into a villain.
2. I don’t think Shanice actually hated Jeana. If she did, I think she was reaching for someone to hate and there were little things that got on Shanice’s nerves. I was drawn to Jeana from the very beginning and thus looked for her in every shot. She was poised and surprised any time she advanced or was called close to the front. Any time anyone was having a hard time, jeana was right there to ask them what was wrong and console them. I WATCHED because I was in awe and was so happy to see someone really take her time to care for everyone. She wasn’t just gravitating around Rio like a little moon, she was her own person taking care of others and I told my friends how much I loved her because of that. And suddenly she’s arrogant and doesn’t care about anyone??? Suddenly she only likes Rio and she’s stepping on everyone to get her way?? i don’t believe it. I think she loves herself, and that’s nothing to fault someone for. I think they edited her to seem vain and egotistic and I think the judges said a bunch of shit about her being egotistic so that the edits didn’t seem crazy. Because honestly, they so were. I didn’t believe a single thing. Everything was so heavily edited i couldn’t tell what they wanted me to believe was real.
ALSO: if you look closely before the edits, the other girls are friendly and open with Jeana. they smile at her and hug and laugh. It’s GENUINE, you can totally see it in their faces. And I don’t want to pretend like i’m a master at body language, but those smiles are kind of hard to fake. Shanice and Jeana laughed together, and when Rio asked Khrystyana how everyone was getting along, she says: “Surprisingly-” before stopping and saying: “Well...” and changes what she was going to say and it was super strange and felt very awkward. I think they’re find with Jeana, happy even, but the edits and the show told them that they’re trying to create animosity towards Jeana because it legit comes out of NOWHERE.
3. drew legit was fawning over jeana during her photoshoot? then told her that she wasn’t good and that he wasn’t impressed?????? yes he didn’t like her without the wig, okay, but also he goes on to say he didn’t like any of the performance and i’m just here like?? you confuse me to no end, did you not just fawn over her? that seems to also be a thing with antm because i’ve seen that happen before and it ALWAYS confuses me because WHY. i don’t have that short of an attention span guys, i remember him CLEARLY being excited. why would you make me think he liked her just for him to say he doesn’t??
4. KYLA. kyla was not that good....???? and this is another place where i think they had it decided who they wanted to win (i think that’s actually something they do for every cycle and it’s kinda crazy???? but i dunno so whatever) but kyla was honestly one of the weakest the entire time, and suddenly they’re like: WOW LOOK AT HER SHE’S GREAT AND BEAUTIFUL GOLD STAR. no. her spider shoot was the best and her last shoot wasn’t bad and that’s about all i can give her???? her face is blank the entire time and i’m not saying i’m a good judge of models, but i liked just about everyone else’s photos over hers??? like the entire cycle????????? and i’m just??????????????????????? guys, try to be a little more subtle. shes cute. at the end Law calls her a blank canvas and i agree: she’s blank. but she’s cute and i hope she does well.
my favorite cycle was the one with the least amount of crazy drama and the least animosity. the one with the petite models. they were happy and sweet and lovely and there was some hate that got smashed real quick and at the end it was just 2 girls supporting each other. that’s what i wanna see!! i don’t wanna see them force girls to hate each other, it sucks! it makes me upset! i watched the cycle for the modeling cuz it’s fun to watch girls model!! girls are pretty and clothes are pretty and i like watching them do it! but the forced yelling and fighting is exhausting and sad.
i dunno. i’m kind of happy kyla won, honestly. it takes a LOT for a winner of antm to go on to have a truly successful career. past winners haven’t done so well. So I’m happy that Khrystyana and Jeana and Shanice and even the rest of the girls can go ahead and have their own careers away from being tied down to Tyra. I hope they go on to have BEAUTIFUL careers. i believe in them.
Philip Plein clearly doesn’t like curvy models. You can see it in the way that he looked at khrystyna, you can hear it in the way that he spoke to her. I mean, he called her a horse! He literally kept calling her a horse until she cried! He had no right to judge khrystyna! And I’m so disappointed in the judges and in Tyra for giving him any type of say on her. I don’t care who he is or who he thinks he is.
