there’s something odd about the gesture ----- not really the gesture itself , he supposes , but the fact that akira seems to be listening almost curiously . goro wonders in that moment if a living dead boy has a heartbeat , if akira hears anything with its ear to his chest . ❛ what , are you listening for a heartbeat ? i assure you , i’m alive . do you still not believe it ? ❜ he feels slightly bitter ; how can akira not believe he’s alive , when he’s the reason why ? you brought me back here , goro wants to spit out at it , stop acting so surprised . he won’t , though , because despite everything sharp and jagged in his heart , he puts it ever so gently in akira’s hands . he only hopes akira won’t hate him every time he gets pierced . ❛ i'm alive , ❜ he mumbles again , a hand tentatively moving to rest in akira’s curls .
