“You’ll always be my baby,” Ron said to his 18 year old daughter, using his entire willpower not to start crying on the spot, thinking about holding her tiny little hand for the first time when she was only a baby.
Despite Rose being a literal young adult woman, graduated from Hogwarts, about to move in with Scorpius and already off to work in a considerably lofty position in the Ministry of Magic (even at her young, barely-adult age), Ron simply couldn’t think of his little princess as a grown-up.
“Oh, Dad.” Rose smiled softly, touched by her father’s words of affection, admitting that to him, she would always be his little baby, his little princess. She noticed that her father was close to bursting into tears, holding the tears at bay in order not to embarrass himself, though she didn’t think, even if he did start to cry, it’d be embarrassing, but just reflected the intensity of his care and love for his family. Still, she was glad that he didn’t cry in front of everyone else at the station, she would be overwhelmed on how to soothe her father.
“I’ll always be your baby, even when I’m grey and old. That’s what you told me. And I promise you’ll never lose me, no matter what happens. I love you, Dad.” Rose confessed with a bright smile, and immediately embraced her father, hugging him tight. She would visit her parents often enough, and write them regularly. It is what she promised them both, and her little brother as well. Her presence would linger at home, even if she did not live continuously at home anymore.
One thing was certain, she would miss her family a lot—heck, she was missing her father already, but her excitement to move in her shared home with Scorpius did not falter either. She would establish the balance between maintaining her family ties, and living her independent life, she was sure. All would enfold itself in due time.
