APENG cramming!!
i’m taking ap english language and composition this year (school starts in t h r e e days ahh!!!), so i figured i’d make a masterpost of resources and tips for my own reference + to help u guys out!
01 // advice people have given me:
take really good notes!!! you’re going to need them
read all required reading. do NOT use sparknotes or anything like that because you will miss all of the little details that are essential.
buy the barron’s prep book (it’s the best one)
learn to annotate properly because it’s another skill necessary for this class
take notes in a dialectical journal format like this one here
02 // reading list for my school + online pdf of each book
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
The Crucible by Arthur Miller
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey

my apeng exam is about to murder me tomorrow lmao
I have an essay for my AP Lang and Comp class due tomorrow and I've been struggling all day. I got a really high grade on my last one and now I feel pressured to do as well or better on this one and that pressure is intimidating me...I feel like it won't be as good no matter how hard I try and as a result I can't even get past the first sentence. Any advice?
hey!!! i totally feel this bc i’ve been in the same situation before, and I’m taking this class right now as well (last friday, when i was doing an in class essay, I really wanted to get a high grade on that essay because I had gotten a high grade on the previous essay :/), and all i can tell you is that you have to get out of your own head. just write, and don’t think too hard about it. it’s better to have a finished product than to have a perfect but unfinished one; you just really have to destroy the idea that everything you do has to perfect, because it definitely doesn’t. also, I would suggest taking a look at this post for elaboration on that. please feel free to message me if you need any more help, or if you simply need someone to talk to :)
thanks for asking!!!
send me asks for my autumnal studyblr sleepover, and I’ll answer them in my study breaks!
ahi guys! it’s mel again, and i’m back with another ap masterpost. i thought i’d make a post on ap english language/composition, as it’s one of the ap classes i’m taking next year. i’ve compiled a bunch of resources on this class below, so hopefully this is helpful to those of u that are also planning to take ap english language/composition. also, quick psa: ap english, ap language, ap composition, apeng, ap lang, ap comp, and apeng/lang/comp are all the same course, they’re just abbreviated differently.
