My opponent has enchanted me with Trespasser's Curse. I wait until their turn, when they are the active player. With the stack empty, I flash in Green Slime. Can I counter Trespasser's Curse's triggered ability and destroy it?

Maybe. It depends on whose turn it is, actually. (Yes, the asker specified their opponent's turn, but I'm explaining more generally.)

When Green Slime enters the battlefield, both it and Trespasser's Curse will trigger, but which one will be put on the stack first depends on which of you is the active player, i.e. whose turn it is. That player puts their trigger on the the stack and then the other player does the same.

If it's your turn, then there won't be a legal target for Green Slime's trigger and so it will be removed from the stack with no effect, but if it's your opponent's turn, then Curse's trigger is there and a legal target and so Green Slime will counter it and eat the whole curse. Om nom nom.

Reasons I think the Dsmp is so great

      I think the Dream smp is a master piece, everything has flaws, but this series just blows me away. I wanted to write about some of my favorite points, aspects, and observations from being a fan of this community. 

Remember these are my opinions/interpretations :)

      My first point is the idea of a main character. Yes there do seem to be characters that take the center stage a lot more then others, and then people who chose to take a supporting role from the sides, but depending on who you watch, there is no main character. Dream and Tommy are the closest we have to “main characters”, but I would rather call then “the core characters”. They are at the core, the base, of all the plot points. They are the string that brings all the plot and characters together. Niki and Jack decide to make their lives around ruining Tommy, they decide to make him “the center of attention”. Tommy’s character isn’t trying to be the “hero” or main character, but everyone else seems to view him as such and so revolve around him. Coming back to this point soon.

        The next point is the perspectives. Dsmp is so cool with all of it’s different perspectives, different characters to watch through. It would be helpful to watch or know what’s happening in all the perspectives, but you don’t need to and sometimes can’t, it just might help make some things make more sense. Say you are a Tommyinnit watcher, you only watch him, and you see what c!Jackmanifold is doing, you might feel he is being a jerk for no reason. But then once you go to Jack’s stream, you are transformed into another world/literal perspective, and get to see his reasons and motivations. Hear his points on why it is what he does, and it does make sense. Another case of where watching multiple perspectives is helpful is that not everyone is always streaming, so the character could pop up in someone else stream. Like yesterday during the prison break, there were five different stories going on from different perspectives. If you were watching Niki, you watched her stream, it all goes dandy, and then she ends. But little do you know that she is over on Jack’s stream now doing some serious lore with him, and if you didn’t know you might show up to one of her streams and be confused with the progression. And if you only watched Niki, you won’t know what happened to Dream, Techno’s resolve with Tubbo, what Tommy is doing, that Punz is a spy, or anything that was happing with Ghostboo.

         Now with both of my pre-existing points, I want to bring back “main characters”. The main character is really who you are watching, everyone is their own main character in their world. Tommy is the main character in his world, and the core in others. But in Jack’s world Jack is the main character, and Tommy is a protagonist, antagonist, and foil to help Jack’s character grow. Tubbo’s character has been through so much, he is the main character in his world. I think one of my favorite characters that people often over look is Fundy. 

Fundy’s character has so much potential, has been through so much, and can’t ever seem to catch a break. L’manberg and Wilbur failed him, left him. He struggles trying to fit somewhere and step up. He is always struggling with his turmoil with Wil, and trying to find a home. He tried to make it work with Ghostbur but no, tried with Phil but no, tried with Eret but that still went south. Fundy also suffers from horrible nightmares, and after there seemed to be nothing left for him he left the inner smp. He lived in the woods for a bit until Quackity came and told him he could be part of their family in Las Nevadas. Obviously my key points don’t do justice to the character, but it is just important to see how complicated and complex all these characters are, and that they all have their own stories, and are all their own main characters.

       I love how all the characters have flaws and are morally grey. Tommy is not saint, he tries and does do good but it often gets over shadowed by his “annoying” personality or pranks. Jack is not a villain, he may have his “Be Worse”. but that’s only because he thinks it’s the only way for people to pay mind to him, and he doesn’t want to be ignored. Jack has a lot of valid reasons for hating Tommy, but not all of them are completely great, and he doesn’t go about it in the right ways. Phil and Techno had good intentions when they destroyed L’manberg, but they didn’t understand what L’manberg really was. So from their side they did something great, from another they ruined a home. 

I don’t like flat out dry villains. So I like to view that Dream does have a motivation and reason for what he does and how he became this way. I don’t like a villain being a villain just for the sake of it and cause “oh I’m evil.” Even if Dream’s motivation isn’t good, all that matters to me is that he has one. I love the idea of the “one big happy Family” motivation. That Dream originally wanted the server for people to come together and be a family, but Tommy and co. came along and messed with it. From Dream’s perspective in the beginning Wilbur and Tommy were trying to disrupt his land and his happy family, being antagonists, so he had to fight them to keep the server in check. But eventually down the line he lost himself, the “one big happy family” became bad and corrupt, and he started seeking out power and more control leading him to be the villain he became.

The dsmp is great because they are not perfect, and they are real people playing these characters making them all the more relatable. The characters are not perfect, and the cc make mistakes that make the experience all the more enjoyable. All the characters have their own flaws, and their own story to tell, and it is awesome to find all the different stories that are taking place within the world.

Hi there. First of all, thank you for all the time you spend answering our questions! We had an interesting interaction during a commander game. I control Yomiji, Who Bars the Way. My opponent controls Athreos, Shroud-Veiled and puts a coin counter on my Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage. When Raff dies, does it go back to my hand or to the battlefield under my opponents control. Would it make a difference if Raff were my commander?

It depends on whose turn it is.

Whoever is the active player will put their trigger on the stack first, then the other player’s trigger will go on the stack above that trigger and resolve first. (If neither player is the active player, then it goes in turn order starting from the active player.) Whoever has their trigger resolve first will move the card out of the graveyard to the appropriate zone and then the other player’s trigger won’t do anything.

If Raff is your commander and you send him directly to your command zone, then neither effect will trigger here.

How does Words of Waste interact with cards like Memory?

It depends on whose turn it is.

When multiple players would draw cards, those cards are draw in APNAP order, i.e. the active player (whose turn it is) draws their cards first, then the next player in turn order, and so on.

When Words of Waste (or any other effect) replaces a draw with something else, that replacement effect happens when you would have drawn the card.

So, if it’s your turn then your opponents will discard before they draw any cards, but if it’s the turn of another player, then some will have drawn cards before they discard and others won’t have. If you only just finished your own turn, then everyone else will have drawn before they have to discard.

My opponent and I both have a Mimic Vat in play and a creature dies. How do the triggers respond from each Mimic Vat if either one of us chooses to imprint the creature or both of us and who has priority if any over calling the trigger? Lastly, does the trigger window only appear once at the same time for each Mimic Vat at the time of the creature death or is there a possibility of a mind numbing endless loop of wanting to imprint it?

It depends on whose turn it is. When multiple players have triggered abilities that trigger from the same event, those triggers go on the stack in APNAP order. This means that the player whose turn it is puts their triggers on the stack first, then the next player puts their triggers on the stack, and so on. The stack resolves last-in, first-out, so in a two player game the player whose turn it isn't will be the one who has the first option to imprint the creature onto their Mimic Vat. If that player chooses not to imprint the creature, then the active player gets the option. If neither player chooses to imprint the creature, then it stays in its owner's graveyard.

My friend has Athreos on the field, as well as another creature. On my turn, i cast Patron of the Vein targeting his other creature. What happens as far as Patron's exile trigger versus Athreos' trigger?

When Patron's trigger destroys the creature, both its ability and Athreos's ability will trigger. Patron of the Vein's trigger goes on the stack first, since it's your turn, and then Athreos's trigger goes on the stack above it. When Athreos's trigger resolves, you can either pay life to keep the creature in the graveyard or you can let it return to your opponent's hand. No matter which option you choose Patron of the Vein's trigger will still resolve and do as much as it can. Even if you let the creature card return to your opponent's hand, Patron of the Vein will give all of your vampires a +1/+1 counter.

Are triggered abilities put onto the stack right away, or when the controller of the triggered ability gains priority? And can they stack something, like an instant, first? Or does the trigger go on the stack, then they can play instants?

When a triggered ability triggers, it waits to go on the stack until the next time a player would receive priority. Note that this is the next time any player gets priority, not just the trigger's controller. Before that player gets priority, state-based actions are first checked and then all pending triggered abilities are put on the stack. First, the active player will put their triggered abilities on the stack, followed by the next player in turn order, and so on. There is no way to cast a spell or activate an ability before triggers go on the stack this way.

If multiple triggers controlled by one person trigger at the same time on another player's turn, who decides stack order?

The triggers’ controller always chooses their relative order. 

The only time that it matters whose turn it is is when multiple players have triggers waiting to go on the stack. In that case, the triggers are put on the stack in turn order starting with the player whose turn it is. That player puts all of their triggers on the stack in the order of their choice, then the next player puts their triggers on the stack above the first player’s triggers, etc.
