both taylor and steven's characters have gotten a glow up in s2 (or both of their actors did acting boot camp or smth between seasons) and while i still don't know if I care for them together I am starting to enjoy them as individual characters.

#apollo watches #the summer i turned pretty #half way through ep5 of s2 and this has actually been a pretty solid season #def better than s1. even tho we dont get the love story of laura/susannah #i mean its still v important to the narrative and lauras character and etc. but we dont get those gay ass scenes we got in s1 </3 #the pacing and vibes has been better (despite the twenty billion taylor swift songs we are still getting)#and i think ive finally started to get why this show reads rly weird to me #i think its bc it feels real. like everyones reactions are really understated #and even when theres like physical fights or big blow ups. often teh music does swell for it. or does in a more rela way #and im not even annoyed when i guess what theyre (usually belly( is gonna say #bc its cliche stuff but in the way that people irl saying cliche shit. esp in romantic or grief moments #and the love triangle is working more for me now that theyr eall older #and more on level playing grounds. like i know someone has to like someone first #but the way that belly being in love with conrad since she was a child. and then jeremiah being in love with belly in the same way was #handled just felt... idk none of it felt genuinely romantic to me. while now in s2 i can feel both relationships being real #like. the gravitational pull stuff with conrad. but also teh wanting to spend ur time with and hang out and make smile with jeremiah #like both of those make sense. i feel both of those ways towards my joyfriend.#and the complications of grief adn getting older and just existing i feel like theyre handling it well #taylor has had some really fun and engaging scenes. i have enjoyed her friendhsip with belly way more #and im not even totally against her and steven. it just feels too easy and kinda boring. and idk i think she could do better #or maybe not better. but like more interesting? tbh i think she should get a gf #but i def like steven (god. i keep thinking hsi name is kevin idk why) more when he doenst have the deb girl storyline sry babe #and i like the emphasis on him feeling left out. and not as important but still also having his other stuff #it feels a little bit like what they did with max in s3 of ginny and georgia. and i adoreddd that #i think both of the boys have been doign solid. theyre giving conrad less cringey lines. but mostly i jsut want him in therapy lol #(i think i was wrong abt the ocd foreshadowing but they are still giving him anxiety attacks so we have that)#i like jermiah. again he feels like a real person. also hes just very pretty. and they could do more with him. but i kinda appreciate that #theyre not for right now. like there is a limited number of episodes and quite a few characters. with belly also still being the main #character - altho it has become more ensemble imo #no idea why cam cameron is back. i thought it was fun for a throw away apearence. but now hes tsill here and idk why. like not needed At al
