I made jam.
From the apricot tree in our yard.
Older than me, here before I was.
I crossed a continent, fell in love, and moved in.
I lit the stove,
Three decades of morning dew and rainy afternoons
Swims around me as the steam rises.
The scent of bumblebees at noon, honeysuckle at dusk.
Add the sugar, let it cool.
Spoon sunlight into a jar,
Save it for a rainy day.
Prunus armeniaca on the tree, and canned!
