ultimate & final appblr updates

so i was gonna do a penultimate appblr updates but i forgot got busy so here is the final one lmao (i’m literally crying inside)

i am incredibly blessed to say that i will be attending UNC Chapel Hill this fall

my major is math right now but i plan to double major w/ polysci and then minor in french or maybe arabic or women’s studies

after that i plan to go to law school!!

i have officially finished ap exams and thus high school and have one month until graduation it’s LIT

i scored this really awesome leadership/service internship so i’ll be working all summer. i am super nervous but also excited!

also this summer i plan to really develop my blog and make a lot of content for y’all because i clearly haven’t done much over the school year lol

i will especially be focusing on the college applications process for my rising seniors and other underclassmen, because i’ve learned A LOT about it and think i can offer some good advice

Admissions Decisions: Summary & Reflection

United Kingdom (Geology)

Durham University - offer received! Feb. 9

Imperial College London - rejected

University of Birmingham - offer received! Jan. 20

University College London - offer received! Mar. 31

University of St. Andrews - offer received! Dec. 21

Obviously very happy with my UK offers, was a bit salty about Imperial because of the whole predicted grades fiasco, but then apparently they ask for interviews as well which is just yikes and I don’t think I would have done well in that anyways. 

First choice right now is St Andrews, but because I applied for first year I’m going to call and see if they can change my offer requirements to that of second year so in case I don’t meet second year requirements I can go to my insurance (UCL) instead of having to stay four years in St Andrews (because of the way the UCAS system works... if you know you know). If I can’t do that... Maybe UCL will be my first choice and Durham my second.

Canada

McGill University (Faculty of Arts - Undeclared) - offer received! Jan. 20

McGill University (Faculty of Science - Geology) - rejected

Nothing much to say about this, McGill was generally fuss free. My offer is basically unconditional so my dad told me to pay the deposit as a kind of ultimate backup. Will probably end up studying Geography + Economics if I do end up going there.

United States

Boston University - rejected

Cornell University - rejected 

Johns Hopkins University - rejected

Rice University - rejected

Stanford University - rejected

University of California: Berkeley - rejected

Yale University - rejected

Ha! All I’m salty about is the amount of money I spent applying. I mean, I basically sabotaged myself by not really pushing for my mid year reports to be sent I guess. I’m happy with my essays and all that, anything different to what I sent simply wouldn’t have been me and I guess that I’m okay that these American schools swiped left on me. I got less enthusiastic about all American schools after Trump won and I just see it spiraling out of control. Then my parents told me that if I went to America my brother would too.. And there was no way I was allowing my brother, who is very big and very dark, live there. Nah.

appblr updates 6th edition

IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME SO LET’S GOOOOOOO

YA GIRL GOT INTO ANOTHER COLLEGE YAS!!! 2 down, 4 to go! i get all my last decisions in two weeks so the next appblr update will be at that time, stay tuned

my life is now scholarships on scholarships on scholarships (help)

literally i have 8 due in two weeks what is this

currently c r u s h e d with the weight of 6 ap classes but whatev its cool gotta live on that academic grind right??? :))))

im organizing a tedtalk-esque event for the youth in my community aka causing myself way more suffering than need be :)

had grad pics this past week and wearing that cap and gown is simultaneously terriying and super exciting!!!

i graduate in 12 weeks omg. the end is near & a scary new beginning approaches

idek where i’m going to college yet like... why. does. it. take. so. long. to. find. out.

i spend my days asking myself this question ^

haven’t done this in 3 months but ya girl got into college so it’s probably a good time!!!!

I GOT INTO COLLEGE OMG??!!!

submitted all college apps & waiting till april for the rest of my decisions

new semester started and i am c r u s h e d. but it’s ok i’ll live lol :)

now applying for scholarships which is just as tedious (if not more so) as college apps but whatev i need the money ya know?

constantly running around bc of my extracurriculars and suffering as a result but who doesn’t love suffering right

probably a lot more going on but idk what bc my mind is a mess so yea sorry abt that

senior year is half over and i am simultaneously terrified and very excited to graduate. but now that i know i’ve got somewhere to go to college i’m slightly more satisfied lmao. thanks for reading + have fantastic day my friend!!

Rejected from Imperial 😬

Mixed feelings about this, but I'm glad to have it off my chest as it would have made my decision that much harder. I'm not too fond of the thought of living in London (although I'm still waiting on UCL). And I know I was below the requirements, but if I change my mind after getting my results then maybe I can use adjustment! For now, I'm content. Trying not to be bitter about the fact that my science grades were underpredicted and that I would have maybe gotten an offer if not 🙄 Just Durham and UCL left in the UK guys! Woot!
