Ramadanman & Appleblim - Justify
behling & simpson - tape hiss [apple pips]
slow builder ... second drop is crazy huge
Bristol-based Behling & Simpson come correct for Apple Pips with two slices of cavern-deep, slo-mo tripped out bass-led housey doings.
These chaps have been making waves in the last year or so with their mixture of bass music, deep house, boogie and discoid with a characteristic Bristol edge of not caring for the rules. With killer releases on Bristol house dons Futureboogie's own label and a stonking re-edit of Faith Evans getting plays from peeps like Modeselektor, Derrick Carter, Untold, Mosca, Jackmaster and many more they continue to forge out their own groovy path through the bass scenes myriad styles.
''Where The Oh's' glides along on a rolling, endlessly chugging beat, with glacial synth sweeps, dubbed out finger clicks, treated vox and sub bass stabs slowing cutting through the mix...perfect slo mo house styles for fans of Prins Thomas, Todd Terje, Mark E, Andrew Weatherall etc.
On the flip 'Tape Hiss' takes its time to build around warm hissing percussion and trippy synth burblings, before the deepest Reese bassline this side of 'Just Another Chance' slinks in and causes maximum dancefloor bother! As heard on Rinse FM played by Numbers crews inimitable Jackmaster, and Appleblim's Boiler Room mix. With early DJ / Radio Support already from: Jackmaster, Eats Everything, Hackman, Om Unit, Mary Anne Hobbs, Midland, Dark Sky, A Love From Outer Space, Simbad, Rob Da Bank

APPLEPIPS
New Applepips release is sounding good.
Trevino aka Marcus Intalex has been wowing all and sundry with his tight Detroit / Chicago / whoknoswhere take on UK Bass music. His early tracks like 'Chip' on Martyn’s 3024 and 'Derelict' on Naked Lunch, showed tough, melodic, techno and electro were back on the menu, but filtered thru the mind and ears of a man who was been releasing fresh UK music since 1994.
Appleblim was amongst the first to hear and start playing Trevino's new cuts, and has seen him go from strength to strength. Trevino is one of those producers who's tracks people are constantly running up to the booth, freaking out about and enquiring about, and that is a sure fire indication of big tunes!
So naturally when Trevino said he'd be happy to put some tracks out on Pips, Appleblim was buzzing...'Indulge' has been a mainstay of his sets and shows Marcus's versatility...gentle undulating melodic stabs seem to weave together for an age before hydraulic bursts of wavejumper bass start to fill the gaps.
When a tough electro style stepping rhythm comes in, the dancefloor is ready for heads down skanking! On the flip is an almost lost classic, 'Under Surveillance', many of the DJs who have been dropping this for a while are pleased to see it come out, its dystopian sci-fi stepping rhythm combining with claustrophobic synths spraying all over the gaff! Proper head nod biz, which hints at the feelings induced at the early DMZ parties...all in all a tasty package.
