Mutual Addiction- CCYWC.. Maybe??

            A mutual addiction. Sounds funny, a classification of what isn’t classifiable. A mutual addiction. What is it? Is it just that? An addiction, something that our society sees as a disease, something that needs to be nixed in the bud, before it negatively influences the rest of society? Is it something that your friends have an intervention over, and cut you off from your supply?

            But the addiction is a person. A person. How can you be addicted to a person? According to Dictionary.com:

            “the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.”

            “Psychologically or physically habit-forming.” That’s love isn’t it? When two people are so used to each other, that they fall into each other naturally. That arms interlock, and fingers weave together. Shoulders become tucked under the other, and facial features relax. Psychotically, they smile, and they laugh and they’re content.

            How is mutual addiction enslavement? A mutual need is the basis of our society. We work together because we need each other to reach our common goal. A mutual addiction is a smaller, more intense affair. The need and the goal are reached when together, the need isn’t accomplished when apart. The two in the addiction need each other to be happy and how is that bad?

            We are driven from the inside to connect and find these relationships and these feelings. We are born addicted to endorphins and to smiles and to soft touches and whispers in the ear. We’re born with this addiction and we can’t be weaned off of the supply post-partum. We are addicts for life, but this addiction is like breathing, this addiction is living.
